● About the design ●

A merry-go-round is drawn using a white-out technique as a cute design in a perfectly round shape.
The horse picture is dyed with pigments by placing a stencil on it.

As expected, the perfectly round shape is very cute.

It is made using porcelain clay and oxidized firing. Therefore, it has a pale cream color. It has a soft and nice feel.

The reason for using a horse in the design is that Asakano-gama was originally a pottery manufacturer of Soma ware. Soma ware used to produce a lot of items with pictures of horses.

But just because it's traditional doesn't mean we can just paint horses exactly like that for Asakano-yaki.

This horse is a cute arrangement that incorporates tradition.

I hand-form each piece on a potter's wheel. All subsequent steps are done by hand as well.
