Yakishime means unglazed.

It was fired unglazed using local Koriyama potter's clay.

Because it is unglazed, the texture of the Koriyama clay shows well.
The coarse-grained clay gives it a rough surface.

The inside is covered with white glaze, but due to the color of the clay, it is gray.
