This product is a traditional double-layered kyusu(tea pot), a typical example of the pottery known as Soma-koma-yaki or Soma-yaki.
Soma Koma-yaki was the name used for the current Ohori Soma-yaki until more than 50 years ago.
Since our kiln has been in existence for over 300 years, we used this name in the past.
This product was exported a lot to the U.S. until the dollar shock (Nixon shock) of 1971, but after that, it was only for the domestic market.
This product is made with traditional techniques, but old techniques will eventually fall into disuse if they are not passed on. Our kiln has decided to revive the product so that the technique will not become obsolete.
