< Natto-Bachi>
Natto stirring bowl
We all know that natto is super healthy.
According to Rosanjin, delicious natto first needs to be mixed 305 times.
Then you pour in some soy sauce and go back to the mixing. Once you have reached a total of 424 turns, you have finishing making the perfect natto dish, at least, that's according to Rosanjin!
This product is a traditional glazed natto stirring bowl, a typical product of the pottery known as Soma Koma-yaki or Soma-yaki.
Soma Koma-yaki was the name used for the current Ohori Soma-yaki until more than 50 years ago.
Since our kiln has been in existence for over 300 years, we used this name in the past.
This product was exported a lot to the U.S. until the dollar shock (Nixon shock) of 1971, but after that, it was only for the domestic market.
This product is made with traditional techniques, but old techniques will eventually fall into disuse if they are not passed on. Our kiln has decided to revive the product so that the technique will not become obsolete.
